Namwamba explains how traffic problems will be solved during 2024 Safari Rally fiesta

The Cabinet secretary in charge of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Ababu Namwamba, has issued a strict warning to motorists ahead of the 2024 Safari Rally Championships.

Namwamba divulged that measures have already been put in place to make this year’s edition which is scheduled to run between Thursday, March 28 and Sunday, March 31 a memorable one.

According to him, he is working together with his interior counterpart Kithure Kindiki to ensure traffic flows smoothly during the championship.

“We are asking all the fans to please obey all the traffic rules that we have put in place. We have a very good traffic plan this time to avoid the traffic snarl-ups and the frustrations that have encumbered this rally previously.

You want to have a great experience? Please follow the traffic rules. Don’t drink and drive. If you are underage, it is zero alcohol. Let us just observe those basic rules. We want you to come to Naivasha and have a great experience,” he stated.

Namwamba added that his ministry is also working closely with the trade and tourism sector to ensure the country benefits economically from the event.

The cabinet secretary, who spoke after assessing the level of preparation, ended by assuring Kenyans and fans from other corners of the globe that the 2024 WRC Safari Rally will be a great fan experience and a roaring success.

Meanwhile, Safari Rally Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Charles Gacheru, disclosed that the focal point for the upcoming showdown will be at the Hells Gate National Park.

“The last one month we have been focusing on the key things that makes the Safari Rally what it is.

One is the routes: Malewa, Soysambu, Elementaita, Kedong, and eventually we end up in Hells Gate. Those are the roads that we will use for this rally.

So in terms of preparations for this rally. We have all the documentation prepared. We have done the questionnaires for medical. We have done the questionnaires for the safety plan. We are working with agencies from the Ministry of Transport, NTSA for example, due to traffic management,” noted Gacheru.

He further urged spectators to obey traffic rules to avoid accidents and getting into trouble with the law enforcers.
