KISUMU, Kenya- Former Harambee Stars captain, Dennis Oliech  was on target as defending champions Gor Mahia  FC shared spoils with Ulinzi Stars in a SportPesa Premier League (SPL) match staged at Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Sunday.

Oliech scored in the 47th minute to give Gor a 1-0 lead in the scintillating tie but this was short-lived when the soldiers were awarded a penalty in the 58th which was successfully converted by Enosh Ochieng who took his tally to 13 goals, one behind Golden Boot race leader Allan Wanga of Kakamega Homeboyz.

The 1-1 draw was not taken kindly by Gor head coach, Hassan Oktay who urged his charges to wake up and step up their performance.

“We were a better side in the game which I believe was fair for both sides. We had total control of the match but missed many open chances. Also Philemon Otieno’s injury slightly affected our pattern.

“We have dropped four points in the week which we have to recover in our next fixtures starting with the one on Tuesday against Bandari,” highlighted Oktay.

Ulinzi tactician, Benjamin Nyangweso was over the moon after picking a point against K’Ogalo saying: “Gor are a tough side, so emerging from the game with a point is definitely a plus for my side.The substitution I made actually did the work for me in the second half.”

Visiting Mathare United  drew 2-2  with Vihiga United at Bukhungu in Kakamega to move to fourth on 39 as Vihiga dropped to 16th on 21, just a step above relegation zone.

At Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, Posta Rangers FC beat Zoo Kericho 2-0 to move away from the relegation zone.

The victory took Rangers to 15th on 24 while Zoo dipped to 17th on 20, just five away from basement side Mount Kenya United FC who are also struggling to escape the axe.
