NAIROBI, Kenya- SportPesa Premier League (SPL) champions Gor Mahia FC returned to familiar territory at the top of the standings despite a late dramatic 1-1 draw against Kakamega Homeboyz FC on Friday afternoon.

Gor were returning to domestic duty after they fell out of the CAF Confederations Cup quarterfinals to Moroccan outfit RS Berkane last Sunday.

The champions broke the deadlock five minutes before the break, the reliable Nicholas Kipkirui bagging his fifth goal of the campaign to give Gor the lead.

Homeboyz left it late, with literally the last kick of the game going into the back of the net to level matters and earn them a valuable point.

The stalemate shot coach Hassan Oktay's side to the top with 45 points, level with both second place Sofapaka FC and Bandari FC but Gor have played four games less.
