Mighty Gor Mahia Beat KMKM To Storm CECAFA Quarters As Group D Winners

- Gor Mahia FC made it three wins in as many matches at the CECAFA Kagame Cup as they beat Kikosi Maalum cha Kuzuia Magendo (KKM) FC 1-0 on Sunday evening
- KKM crashed out at the tail end of the group with zero points and without scoring a single goal in the 2019 edition of the tournament
- Erick Ombija was responsible for the late goal for Gor in the 87th minute of the hotly contested affair, guiding Hassan Oktay’s charges qualification with bragging rights as group winners
KIGALI, Rwanda- Gor Mahia FC made it three wins in as many matches at the CECAFA
Kagame Cup as they beat Kikosi Maalum cha Kuzuia Magendo (KMKM) FC 1-0 on Sunday
evening.
The win sees the
record Kenyan league winners perched at the top of Group D with nine points and

KKM crashed out at

the 2019 edition of the tournament.

Former Tusker FC
midfielder Hashim Sempala was the provider with a well weighted cross into the
area and Ombija proved his capability to be part of the team next season with a
great finish.
This was not the
first time Gor and KMKM were meeting in this tournament, as the Kenyans ran out
three winners in 2015 with Harambee Stars international Michael Olunga scoring
a brace.
Gor first played
Zanzibar team in this tournament in 1975, drawing 2-2 with Jeshi with goals by
Peter Ouma 'Pele' and Captain Jaoko Orifa.

The next was a 3-0 victory
over the same side as Nahashon Oluoch, Sammy Owino and George Yoga getting
their names on the scoresheet.
Gor have scored five
times in the three matches, conceding only once and seem to be well on course
to going all the way to the final.
Maniema Union FC
qualified in second place after beating Ports 2-0 later on Sunday.
