Chelsea finished off the English Premier League weekend still at the top of the table with 19 points after a hard fought 1-0 victory away at Brentford.

Ben Chilwell was on target with the only goal of the game to secure a sixth win of the campaign.

Liverpool remain second with 18 points after they annihilated Watford 5-0 away from home, with Sadio Mane scoring his 100th league goal.

Norwich remain rooted to the bottom of the table but got their second point of the season after a barren draw with Brighton and Hove Albion.

It was yet another disappointing outing for Manchester United as they were beaten 4-2 by Leicester City in an enthralling fixture at the King Power Stadium.

OLE NEEDS TO GO!

It is surprising how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's job is still secure when they keep showing signs of faltering and not being able to compete against the big boys.

The defeat to Leicester brought their 29-match away unbeaten run to an end and saw them drop to sixth on the table with 14 points.

United are now without a league win in three games, losing twice in that run and begs the question whether indeed Ole is the man for the job.

Even after reacquiring the services of Cristiano Ronaldo, there seems to be a lack of cohesion in the squad with the coach clearly lacking in that department.

MENDY SHOWS WHY HE IS THE BEST

Chelsea may have come out on top against Brentford at the weekend but it was arguably their most difficult victory yet.

Brentford completely dominated the second half with 15 attempts compared to Chelsea's one and if it were not from outstanding saves from Edouard Mendy, the Blues would have lost.

The last 15 minutes of the game saw Mendy called upon 5 times to make great saves to deny the home side and guarantee Chelsea all three points.

A true man of the match performance that brought plenty of hullabaloo online as to why he did not make even the Balon d'Or shortlist.

NOBODY IN THE WORLD IS BETTER THAN SALAH RIGHT NOW

Mohamed Salah continued his perfect start to the season with yet another dazzling effort in Liverpool's 5-0 demolition of Watford. 

The Egyptian scored his seventh league goal in fine fashion to add onto the assist for Sadio Mane's opener.

He is the joint-top scorer of the English Premier League, together with Jamie Vardy.

There is no better player in the world right now in terms of form and also the beauty of the goals that he is scoring is unmatched.

KANE FINALLY OFF THE MARK

Harry Kane finally scored his first goal of the 2021/22 campaign in a 3-2 away win at Newcastle United.

This is the longest it has taken him to score his first league goal since 2014 and he added an assist as Spurs overcame a hearty Magpies fight to hang on for the win.

Kane has been far from his best this season and it may be too soon to get ahead of ourselves but judging by his recent seasons, this could be the start of a flurry of goals for the Englishman.

WOLVES HAVE FOUND THEMSELVES

After a disappointing start to the season that saw them lose 4 in 6 games, Wolves have found themselves with a recent admirable run of form.

Bruno Lage's side have now mastered three straight wins, most recently a remarkable 3-2 comeback victory against Aston Villa at the weekend.

Losing 2-0 by the 80th minute, Roman Saiss scored first to give Wolves hope before Conor Coady and Ruben Neves scored to secure the victory.

The victory leaves them in 10th on the log with 12 points ahead of games against Leeds, Everton and Crystal Palace.
