NAIROBI, Kenya- AFC Leopards SC head coach Andre Casa Mbungo admitted to being worried about his blunt striking force after his side could only manage a draw against Kariobangi Sharks FC on Sunday.

Despite the concern, Mbungo maintained that he is confident that Leopards will discover their winning formula as they continue to seek a first goal in the new SportPesa Premier League (SPL) season.

The result was the second successive draw for Sharks and the first point of the 2019/20 SPL season for the new-look Leopards.

Former Al Nasr striker John Mark Makwatta made his debut at the Kasarani Stadium and even had a goal disallowed in a very frustrating encounter for the 12-time league winners.

“It’s an improvement from how we played against Kakamega Homeboys in our opener. It will take time for the team to gel but not to every player.

“Adaptation from each player is different and there are some who are already at per with the rest. Diarra didn’t have a good game today but I know he will come good after more game,” Mbungo stated.

Mbungo and his assistant, former Harambee Stars international Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani have an uphill task as they seek to win a first league crown in 21 years.

The ever-present Ingwe faithful turned up in numbers to support their team but will need to wait for their first three points of the season to better their position on the competitive SPL table.

“We deserved to win the match but we were not at our best in the final third. We haven’t scored yet in the season and we have to work on our striking front before we play Wazito next weekend.

“The match will be at Bukhungu and we have to prepare and give our fans something to smile about,” the tactician added.

Leopards will take on newcomers Wazito FC on Saturday, September 21 at the Bukhungu Stadium, who are also without a maiden win in the new SPL season.

“It’s too early to start pointing fingers and blaming the club for not giving their best. We have two points and the league toppers have four, which means if we win our next match we will close the gap.

“It doesn’t mean we are worse off now that we have dropped four points. I am sure we will find our winning formula,” Mbungo concluded.
