NAIROBI, Kenya- One of the newest millionaires in town, Phillip Olualo, has expressed his utmost gratification in the fact that the local football scene is constantly changing for the better and how he wishes to be a part of the commendable transformation.

Olualo, who grew up playing football just as many other young boys in Kenya, was part of the batch that never got to see their dream of becoming professional footballers but that has not dented his intention of being part of the change the game is experiencing.

Olualo is an avid football fan and expressed his undying love for 2018 SportPesa Premier League (SPL) champions Gor Mahia FC and Unai Emery’s Arsenal FC in the English Premier League.

“I used to play when I was younger but now I’m obviously too old.

“Though not being able to play now doesn’t mean that it’s the end of the road. There is so much one can do to help promote and develop the local football scene, which I plan to,” he told SportPesa News.

Olualo is married family man and has two children, his son is 21 years old and in college while the younger of them is a 14-year old daughter in her first year of her secondary school education.

The 50-year old missed out on the opportunity to win the biggest jackpot in Africa- the SportPesa mega jackpot by a whisker, as he managed to get 16 out of 17 predictions correct, granting him a bonus of a whopping KShs 11,628,589.

He admits to playing between five and seven games every other day for the past three years and before this gargantuan triumph that has turned him into a millionaire, Olualo had only a winning of KShs 60,000 to show for his efforts.

“When I got the message from SportPesa, I didn’t even check because I thought it was just the customary texts that offer the odds for the day,” the Ngara resident explained.

“I had no idea that the mega jackpot was ending at that time so it hadn’t crossed my mind that I could be among the winners.

“When I finally got to opening the text, I couldn’t contain my happiness. I am extremely grateful and this money is going to help me do so many things to benefit both my family and the community,” Olualo offered.

He works at the National Commission for Science and Innovation as an accountant, a job that he has had for the past 16 years and is keen on finishing up two housing projects in Ngara and Kisii with the recent good fortune that came his way.

Olualo also plans to make a donation to a local football team so as to help them with day-to day activities and he also urged the winner of the mega jackpot, Cosmas Korir to join him in the illustrious cause.

“I will make a donation to a local football team of my choice just to try and help them in the little way that I can.

“There are plenty of teams who need financial support and SportPesa is a perfect example of those doing amazing things to change the look and progression of local football by the much they can offer,” Olualo concluded.
