NAIROBI, Kenya- National Super League (NSL) side Wazito FC have axed head coach Mohamed Ahmed Dmchulla and his first assistant Hussein Mohammed in the wake of poor results registered by the outfit in recent weeks.

Former Harambee Stars tactician Stanley Okumbi is set to replace Ahmed who linked up with the team in January 2018 as an assistant coach before his subsequent elevation as head coach.

"I can confirm that we have parted ways with the two tacticians. They did a good job during their time here but as a club we feel it's time for change because things are not working as they should.

“The two are great professionals and we wish them all the best in their future endevours," club director, Solomon Alubala, told Sportpesa News.

Ahmed's fate was sealed on Monday afternoon when Wazito went down 3-1 to FC Talanta, a result that did not go well with club owner  Ricardo Badoer who went ballistic on micro-blogging site Twitter over the outcome.

While hinting that the club is set to appoint Okumbi as their new boss, Alubala said: “It's not yet done but yes Okumbi will be our new manager. Once we complete everything we will make an official announcement by the end of the day.”

Wazito are so far winless in three games which have dipped them to third place after losing their five point lead in the NSL. 

They lost to promotion rivals Nairobi Stima FC two weeks ago, then settled for a one all draw against Administration Police FC before the defeat by Talanta.

Ahmed joined Wazito from Modern Coast Rangers FC at the start of 2018 SPL season in January as an assistant to then head coach Frank Ouna.

Ahmed was then elevated as head coach following Ouna’s departure to join SPL side Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) FC.

Hussein joined Wazito from NSL side Coast Stima FC at the start of the 2018/19  season last November.
