LIVERPOOL, United Kingdom- Gylfi Sigurdsson says Everton’s capture of electric teenage striker
Moise Kean points towards the Club plotting an “exciting future”.
Italy international
Kean completed his transfer from Juventus on Sunday, following the quartet of
Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph, Jean-Phillipe Gbamin and Jonas Lossl into Goodison
Park this summer.
Midfielder
Sigurdsson, who became Everton’s Club-record buy when joining from Swansea City
two years ago, insists the influx of fresh blood will have a healthy impact on
dressing room morale.
Equally, the
Icelander senses competition for starting spots intensifying ahead of Everton
opening their Premier League season at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
“Moise Kean looks
like a very good footballer with a lot of different qualities,” Sigurdsson told
evertontv.
“He is still very
young but he has shown his potential with Juventus and has an extremely bright
future.
“It is good for the
morale of the team when you see top players being brought in.

“It is good for
competition and it is nice to bring in new players who are determined to make
an impact.”
Kean scored eight
goals in 21 appearances for Juventus – including six in as many games during a
crunch period last season, as the Turin club closed in on their eighth
successive domestic title.
Aged 19 years and 23
days, he became Italy’s second youngest scorer – and youngest for more than 60
years – when marking his full international debut by netting in a European
Championship qualifier against Finland back in March.
Ivorian midfielder
Gbamin joined from Mainz after playing for his country at the Africa Cup of
Nations.
Former Valencia
player Gomes, meanwhile, signed a five-year deal following his fine campaign on
loan from Barcelona last term, the Portugal international recruited in the wake
of goalkeeper Jonas Lossl arriving after the end of his Huddersfield Town
contract.
England midfielder
Fabian Delph joined from Manchester City after four years at the Etihad Stadium
where he won six major trophies, including the Premier League title twice.
A thigh injury
forced Delph off the field four minutes into Everton’s final pre-season
friendly against Werder Bremen on Saturday.
Marco Silva
nevertheless sounded an optimistic note when asked about the 29-year-old’s
condition after his side had drawn 0-0 in Germany.

The manager also
disclosed his desire to further strengthen his squad during what he expects to
be a “busy few days” before the summer transfer window closes on Thursday.
“It shows the club
wants to move in the right direction, it wants to continue improving during the
season and between seasons,” added Sigurdsson, who tied with Richarlison on 14
goals as Everton's top scorer last season.
“If we can bring in
a couple more, then fantastic, that would add to the quality we have.
“It was sad to see
Fab go off so early in the game on Saturday – but is it good we are
bringing in new players to strengthen the squad for the season.
“The owner is
investing a lot, which is fantastic, with the new stadium plans and players
coming in.
“I think it will be exciting
times ahead and we will bring in players to add to the quality we have.”
