MACHAKOS, Kenya- Visiting Posta Rangers FC started their 2019/20 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) campaign on a good note by edging hosts Sofapaka FC 2-1 at Narok Stadium on Friday.

At the same time, SportPesa Cup champions Kariobangi Sharks FC were held to a 2-2 draw by stubborn Western Stima FC at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Ellie Asieche gave Sofapaka a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute with a converted penalty before Gearson Likono and Eliud Lokuwam found the back of the net for Rangers in the 47th and 60th to seal the win.

Former KPL Most Valuable Player Erick Kapaito and Patrick Otieno were the scorers for Sharks as Kennedy Otieno and Samuel Abawa leveled the scores for the visiting power men.

Sofapaka made 11 new signings ahead of the game which included Togo national team first choice goal-keeper Djehani N’guissan Yao.

Other signings by the club include former Gor Mahia FC midfielders Cersidy Okeyo and Timonah Wanyonyi and bullish striker Wanjala Muchuma who joins from Chemelil Sugar FC.
