For the lucky mascots and ball boys, the chance to be part of such a historic occasion promises to be an everlasting experience.

“When I started training at Ligi Ndogo, my dream is to finally show my talent in the EPL and I cannot believe I will be close to players who play in such a big league. I cannot wait to see the Everton players,” Ian Mungai oozed.

His wish is to see famous Everton players such as goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, winger Theo Walcott, midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and Andre Gomes who recently completed his move to Goodison Park from FC Barcelona.

“Watching such players here at home will inspire us to train harder to be like them one day. I hope Sharks show them what Kenya can offer because they have good players such as (Sven) Yida and (Eric) Kapaito,” the youngster cheered.

Remembered long

“This occasion has been more than six months in planning since Sharks brought the SportPesa Cup trophy home and we are committed to organising a game that will be remembered long in Kenya’s football history.

“At FKF, we encourage hosting such games to give our local players the belief they can play against the best.

“We saw it with Gor last year when they matched Hull and of course, our national team Harambee Stars have just returned from playing at the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 15 years,” Ouma, who serves as the head of international matches at the federation underscored.
