On Fire Ongwae Bags Top Scorer Award As Kenya Finish Second In FIBA AfroCan

BAMAKO, Mali- Denmark based Tylor Okari Ongwae won Top Scorer Award with 130 points as Kenya Morans finished second behind Democratic Republic of Congo in the 2019 FIBA AfroCan Basketball Championship in Bamako, Mali on Saturday night.

The Bakken Bears forward also scored a game high 21 points in the final which DR Congo won 82-61 after leading in the quarters 26-20, 17-16, 15-12 and 24-17.

Ongwae was drafted into the All-Star Five of the tournament alongside his teammate Bush Wamukota.

Others were Maxi Shamba (DR. Congo) who also bagged the Most Valuable Player award, Edson Ndoniema (Angola) and Jordan Sacko (DR Congo).

"The tournament was a good initiative as it helped to improve standard of the leagues across the continent,”  28-year old Ongwae underlined.

Angola routed Morocco 88-71 to seal the last spot on the podium.
