BAMAKO, Mali- Kenya Morans beat Morocco 96-66 to sail into the final of 2019 FIBA AfroCan Basketball Championships in Mali, Bamako on Thursday night.

Kenya won the first three quarters 27-11, 23-15, 27-20 before going down 19-20 in the last to carry the day.

The Morans were propelled in the encounter by Eric Mutoro who scored a game high 32 points and Denmark based Tylor Ongwae who added 20.

The Morans are now poised to meet Democratic Republic of Congo in the final on Saturday.The Congolese beat Angola 84-78 in the semis to book a date with Kenya.

It will be the second time that Kenya and Congo will be clashing in the tournament, the latter having won their group stage contest 65-82 to top Pool B with Kenya finishing second.

The exemplary performance by Morans saw Kenyans took to social media to congratulate the team for the good show.

“Kenya Morans have exhibited exceptional prowess and mastery of basketball at the continental level in Mali. This is a clear indication that with support and proper facilitation we can realise incredible international talent from this team.

“ I pledge my support and support of the Ministry as we continue to work together to grow sports in the country,” Amb. Amina Mohamed, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage underlined.
