NAIROBI, Kenya- Bandari FC beat visiting Kenya Commercial Bank FC 2-1 at Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa to return to the summit of the SportPesa Premier League (SPL) standings on Wednesday afternoon.

Yemi Mwana scored a brace in the 33rd and 74th minutes to give the dockers the victory as Ezekiel Omullo converted a penalty for the bankers in the 90th.

The win fired Bandari to the  top of SPL on 45 points while KCB dipped to 10th on 29.

Mathare United FC edged Nzoia Sugar 3-2 at Moi International Sports Center Kasarani in Nairobi to climb to fourth on 38.

“We played well today, but most importantly we scored three goals which is fair enough.

“We have failed to find the back of the net severally in our recent games, so this is such a great achievement,” Mathare United coach, Francis Kimanzi underlined.

“We will tackle Vihiga United in our next fixture so i will go back to the drawing board to reinforce the tactics that have won us the match today,” he added.

Despite the loss, Nzoia Sugar FC tactician, Peter Mwaura was happy with their display saying they fought hard but luck was not on their side.

“I’m positive with the results, I’m also impressed with our new signings as they stretched beyond their limits to show me what they have.

“I’m urging fans back home to turn up in large numbers to support the new talents that we have acquired, I believe they only need a bit of encouragement to start winning games,” Mwaura highlighted.

Bottom placed Mount Kenya United FC also returned to winning ways after a prolonged period by beating Chemelil Sugar FC 4-3 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
