In another fixture on the day, Mt. Kenya United FC moved away from the relegation zone for the first time this season after they recorded a second straight victory, beating AFC Leopards SC 2-1 at the Kenyatta Stadium.

John Ndirangu gave Mt. Kenya the perfect start with a goal in the 16th but Salim Abdallah’s headed effort from a Marcel Kaheza free-kick, drew Leopards level.

Following the win over league leaders Mathare United FC last weekend, Mt. Kenya seemed to be in the mood and sunk the final nail into Leopards coffin with a 73rd minute winner.

It was a forgettable first outing for new Leopards coach Andre Casa Mbungo, who took over following the resignation of Marko Vesiljevik, who made public his decision after a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Bandari FC last Saturday.

Leopards will need to rediscover themselves having come off three straight defeats as they prepare to battle it out against eternal rivals Gor in the highly anticipated Mashemeji Derby set for Saturday at Kasarani from 3PM.

Western Stima FC were also victorious on the day as they battled to a 1-0 triumph against Zoo Kericho FC, taking their tally to 19, level with Gor but an inferior goal difference leaves them in fourth on the SPL standings.
