Beverage firm EABL pens KSh40m deal with European Challenge Tour event at Karen Country Club

NAIROBI, Kenya- Spectators who will attend the 2019 Magical Kenya Open Golf Championship at Karen Golf and Country Club in Nairobi on March 14 to 17 have been promised great entertainment by the organisers.

This was after Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) came on board on Thursday to inject KSh40 million support that will be used to cater for drinks in the event.

“This sponsorship goes to show our commitment as a company in supporting sports in the country. We will provide a memorable  and  world class entertainment to both fans and players during the tournament,” KBL Managing Director, Jane Karuku, underscored.

Karuku, who lauded the event organisers for working hard to achieve the European Tour Status added: “I would like to congratulate the Kenya Open Golf Limited (KOGL) on the competition  promotion to European Tour status.”

“Your efforts to consistently achieve and maintain world-class standards have made the tournament what it is today compared to the first edition 50 years ago.”

Kenya’s flag will be flown by 18 contestants including 12 professional and six amateurs in the event that has attracted 144 players from across the world.

Among the elite golfers are Safari Tour winner Greg Snow, Mumias hard hitter Dismas Indiza, David Opati and Rizwan Charania.

The amateur team will be led by Daniel Nduva of Nyali Golf and Country Club, Samuel Njoroge of Railway Golf Club and Mutahi Kibugu of Muthaiga Golf Club.

“We urge the fans to come out in large numbers to enjoy four days of great golf. We have taken deliberate steps to ensure that they will have a great time in the championships,” KOGL Finance Director, Joe Wangai, underlined.
