MACHAKOS, Kenya- AFC Leopards SC saw their chances to finish second in the SportPesa Premier League (SPL) take a slight tumble as they lost 2-1 to relegation threatened Wazito FC on Wednesday afternoon.
The match was the second of a double-header at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, where Alex Orotomal put Leopards ahead in the first half before limping off injured.
The striker scored in the 23rd minute after being assisted by Ezekiel Seda, a lead that the Rodolfo Zapata side held onto until the break.
Wazito FC seemed to have gotten the more inspirational of half time team talks, as they scored with seconds on the clock following the restart.

The result left Leopards in third position with 48 points as Wazito remained second from bottom but with a point increase to 27, a point away from safety.
The earlier game at the Kenyatta Stadium saw wounded Kariobangi Sharks FC strike back with a resounding 3-0 victory over bottom side Thika United FC.
Flying start
George Abege got the game off to a flying start with a goal in the opening minute of the game.
Two late goals from Duke Abuya and one from the penalty spot through Eric Kapaito sealed the victory for Sharks who moved to seventh in the standings with 40 points.
Ten-man Sofapaka FC also reduced the point gap between them and third place Leopards with a slim 1-0 victory over Posta Rangers FC in another midweek SPL fixture.
The defeat leaves Rangers in 12th, only seven points above the relegation zone.
Justine Omary and Jackson Macharia scored in either half to steer 2016 SPL winners Tusker FC to a 2-0 victory over Chemelil Sugar FC to push Robert Matano’s charges to 43 points, one shy of fifth place Ulinzi Stars.
