NAIROBI, Kenya- Tusker FC retained top spot in the SportPesa Premier League (SPL) table after a late Timothy Otieno penalty salvaged a 1-1 draw against ten-man Kenya Commercial Bank FC (KCB) on Saturday afternoon.

KCB opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Bethwel Warambo was sent off nine minutes later for a reckless challenge.

Tusker, who lead the standings with 17 points from nine matches, piled pressure in the second half and were rather fortunate to be gifted a spot kick in the fifth minute of added time.

Chemelil are still yet to register a first win of the 2019/20 SPL campaign and remain rooted to the bottom of the standings with a dismal one point after eight matches. 

Another team that is yet to find their footing this season are SportPesa Cup winners Kariobangi Sharks FC who stumbled yet again with a 1-0 loss to newcomers Kisumu All Stars FC on Saturday.

Both teams have only won once this season and are languishing in 15th and 16th place respectively.
