Teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho was the hero with a late winner as Manchester United edged Fulham 2-1 in a dramatic encounter at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

The teenage sensation scored an injury time winner after a great one-two with Christian Eriksen to give United all 3 points and a win ahead of the World Cup break.

Eriksen had given United the lead in the 14th minute with his first goal for the club and the hosts had to wait until the second half for an equalizer.

Daniel James came off the bench and scored two minutes later against his former employers to give the home side hope of pulling off an upset.

Garnacho, who came on in the 72nd minute in place of a frustrated Anthony Martial, passed the ball neatly into the bottom right corner of the goal in added time for arguably the most important goal yet of his embryonic career.

The 18-year old was consequently booked after he took off his shirt with the traveling United fans going into delirium.

Erik Ten Hag's men go into the FIFA World Cup break in 5th place with 26 points, while Fulham's second straight defeat leaves them in ninth with 19.

Earlier in the day, Unai Emery got his second win charge of Aston Villa as they cruised to an impressive 2-1 away win at Brighton to lift them up to 12th in the standings.

Danny Ings scored twice in either half to confirm all 3 points for Villa and extend Emery's unbeaten start to life in the English Premier League.

Emery took over from Steven Gerrard after a poor run of results under the Englishman and began with an emphatic 3-1 win against Manchester United in his first game in charge.

Ings struck after Alexis Mac Allister had claimed Brighton's fastest goal in the Premier League with an opener after just 49 seconds.

Despite the defeat, Brighton are in 7th place on the EPL table with 21 points.

The English top flight goes on a break now due to the Qatar 2022 World Cup with fixtures set to resume on Boxing Day.
