Deogratious Ojok scored a hat-trick as Tusker FC made a huge statement with a 4-1 demolition of City Stars at their Ruaraka Complex on Sunday.

The emphatic win takes the brewers to the top of the Kenya Premier League table, above Gor Mahia on goal difference after K'Ogalo dismissed Bidco United on Saturday.

Samuel Kapan had given City Stars an ideal start to the game with a goal in the third minute but it was short-lived as Ojok equalized three minutes later.

The Ugandan forward made it 2-1 on the half hour mark and a superb save from goalkeeper Patrick Matasi ensured that Tusker went into the break a goal up.

Ojok got his hat-trick on the hour mark as he converted a cross from Eric Zakayo to put the game beyond reach for the visiting team.

The brewers were not done and put the icing on the cake with the last kick of the game as Jackson Macharia scored his first goal of the season to seal all 3 points.

Tusker and Gor are the only two teams to win their first two games of the embryonic season and are more than likely to be top contenders for the title at the end of the season.

In other games of the day, Kariobangi Sharks were impressive in a 3-2 thrilling win against Ulinzi Stars to cement third place in the league standings.

The soldiers, who lost their first match 2-0 to AFC Leopards at their Langata Complex home ground, looked to be on their way to redeeming themselves when Boniface Muchiri put them in the lead in the 31st minute.

However, the slum boys composed themselves to go into the breather leading 3-1 courtesy of goals from Fortune Omoto, Kevin Musamali and Tyson Otieno.

Ulinzi came back guns blazing in the second half but only had Hillary Simiyu’s strike in the 71st minute to show for their efforts and remain rooted to the relegation zone.

Kakamega Homeboyz bagged their first win of the season in a labored 1-0 victory over KCB FC to lift them up to seventh place.

New signing from Nzoia FC, Levis Okello, scored the only goal of the game in the 46th minute to condemn the bankers to a first defeat of the season.
