Mionki Crowned 2018 KMSF Personality Of The Year Winner

The former Two Wheel Drive navigator beat celebrated speed merchants Carl’ Flash’ Tundo and Tim Jessop to the coveted gong at the weekend

NAIROBI, Kenya- Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) ace Tuta Mionki is the 2018 Kenya Motor Sports Personality of the Year winner.

Mionki won the coveted award following her successful season last year which saw her emerge champion in both  KNRC Division One class and  the Group N category.

“We had a bad season in 2017 where we only managed to complete two events.My team decided to focus on one race at a time in the 2018 season, we were so meticulous and I’m glad this paid off,” underlined Mionki who was crowned at a colorful ceremony in Nairobi at the weekend.

The former Two Wheel Drive navigator champion beat celebrated speed merchants, Carl’ Flash’ Tundo and Tim Jessop, to the gong.

Mionki garnered  five votes against Jessop’s two and Tundo’s one from the Kenya Motor Sports Federation (KMSF) Commission who presided over the prizes.

However, all was not lost for Tundo and Jessop who were also feted in the KNRC Main Class and

B13 Class in that order.

KMSF announced the B13 class, where competitors are allowed to use bigger turbo destructors and a sequential gearbox, would be phased out in 2019.

 Apart from the KNRC, other champions were awarded in the Rally Raid, Autocross and Karting championships.

Class honors

Division III and KNRC SPV class championships were won by  Nikhil Sachania and Alfir Khan as Two Wheel Drive class went to Sarit Shah (drivers) and Wayne Fernandes (navigator).

The overall Rally Raid champions were Ross Field and Quentin Savage who also won the Motorcar-Prototype class.

The Motorcar-Modified class honors went to Adin Haq and Kavit J. Dave while the Buggy was taken by Abid Ganatra and Sameer Mohammed.

Kenya National Autocross champions were Safina Khan (2WD Non Turbo), Inran Hakada  (2WD Turbo), and Sahib Omar (4WD Turbo) while  Kirit Rajput and his son Yuvraj Rajput won the Open and Bambino classes in that order.

Kenya National  Karting champions were Zack McKean in the 60cc Class Comer, Yuvraj Rajput in Lame Class, William Kim in Junior Rotax Class, Yash Gohil in Rotax Mini Max Class and Neel Vadgama in the Open Class.

"In the next three years we will be supporting motorsports and look forward to a very strong partnership with KMSF," KCB Group Marketing and Communications Director Angela Mwirigi underscored.
