Luis Diaz scored a wonderful solo goal to rescue a point for 10-man Liverpool in a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Anfield on Monday night.

New signing Darwin Nunez was shown a straight red card on his home debut in the 57th minute for head-butting Palace defender Joachim Andersen, who was given a yellow after the altercation.

Wilfried Zaha had given Palace the lead in the 32nd minute with a well-taken finish after a sweeping counter-attacking move by the away side.

Patrick Vieira's side took the lead into half-time but found it hard to contain the Reds pressure as the second half progressed, until Nunez overreacted and was given his marching orders.

On the hour mark, the Colombian Diaz did extremely well to skip past four Palace players before unleashing a ferocious right-footed curler that left Vincent Guaita with no chance.

The hosts continued to pile the pressure for the rest of the encounter but failed to find a winner despite numerous efforts on goal.

Talisman and last season's joint EPL top scorer Mohamed Salah didn't seem to find his footing throughout the game and eventually registered three shots on target.

Liverpool remain without a win from both their opening games and are in 12th place with two points, while Palace are in 16th with only a point to their name.
