NAIROBI, Kenya- Kepha Aswani's second half goal was enough for Sofapaka FC as they battled to a 2-1 victory over Kisumu All Stars FC on Tuesday afternoon to move up to fifth on the SportPesa Premier League (SPL) table.

Elli Asieche gave the 2009 league champions an early lead in the eighth minute from the penalty spot and the newly-promoted All Stars got the equalising goal half an hour later.

Wesley Kemboi failed to score from the initial spot kick but was fortunate enough to get the rebound to make it 1-1.

Sofapaka continued to dominate proceedings and went ahead for the second time in the game with 20 minutes left on the clock through veteran forward Aswani. 

The result propels Batoto Ba Mungu into fifth on the standings with 21 points, level with fourth-place Kenya Commercial Bank FC (KCB) and Western Stima FC, who are a place below them. 

All Stars on the other hand are deep in the relegation zone with only eight points to show from their debut season in the Kenyan top flight after 12 matches. 

Sofapaka will be out of action this weekend, while All Stars prepare to host struggling Bandari FC at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Saturday.
