The junior men’s national football team thrashed Sudan 5-0 in their opening match of the 2023 under 18 CECAFA Junior Championships on Saturday 25 November 2023 in Kisumu to lay down their stamen of intent.

The Junior Stars opened the scoring seven minutes into the first half through Louise Ingavi’s bullet header after an excellent work from Collins Ochieng down the left wing.

Sudan tried to get into the game, putting constant pressure on Kenya’s defense after the goal and their efforts nearly paid off after Kenya’s goalkeeper Ibrahim Wanzala made a schoolboy mistake but their forwards failed to capitalize on the golden opportunity.
