NAIROBI, Kenya- Record Kenya Premier League (KPL) winners Gor Mahia FC go into round 22 of the 2019/20 camapign with the aim of maintaining their lead at the summit of the standings with a victory against Western Stima FC on Saturday.

Gor are currently on 48 points, four more than their closest challengers Kakamega Homeboyz FC, who will take to the field on Sunday against a lowly Nzoia Sugar FC at the Bukhungu Stadium.

Seventh-placed Stima who have not won a match in their last seven outings, will have an uphill task against the champions who are confident of winning a record 19th KPL title.

Batoto Ba Mungu are coming off a 2-1 loss at the hands of a resurgent AFC Leopards SC side who are seeking to break the jinx of not winning a domestic league title for 21 years under the tutelage of Anthony 'Modo'Kimani.

Sixth-place Leopards are in action on Saturday against Chemelil Sugar FC and will be seeking to continue their improved form despite turmoil this season that has seen them lose both their coach and influential players.

John Mark Makwatta remains the league's top scorer with 13 goals despite leaving the den to join Zambian outfit Zesco United FC a month ago.

Chemelil remain second from bottom with nine points from 21 games and will need a miracle if they are to avoid the relegation axe at the end of the season.

Tusker FC, who are in third place on the KPL table with 42 points, are out to extend their unbeaten streak when they take on basement side Kisumu All Stars FC on Saturday afternoon.

Another side that has maintained the pace of the top teams in the Kenyan top tier are Kenya Commercial Bank FC and a win at home to Bandari FC in the last game of the weekend will keep their hope of a maiden KPL title alive.

Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno's charges are in fourth place despite suffering two defeats in their last three and face a stern dockers test who are on the rise since re-appointing Ken Odhiambo as head coach a fortnight ago.

Bandari are in 11th place with 26 points, owing to a current four-match unbeaten streak.
