KCB top seeds as Kenya Harlequin announce pools for 2024 Christie 7s

Kenya Harlequin, hosts of the first outing of the 2024 SportPesa 7s Circuit, have unveiled pools for the Christie 7s Division One tournament that will take place from 27-28 July at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.

KCB RFC, who are the overall SportPesa 7s defending champions as well as the reigning Christie 7s champions, are the top seeds in the tourney and have been placed in Pool A where they will battle Nondies, Homeboyz and Impala.

Kakamega-based giants Kabras Sugar, who finished the 2023 season in an improved second place, are in Pool B and will be up against Nakuru RFC, Kisumu RFC and Catholic Monks.

Strathmore Leos, last year’s third-place finishers headline Pool C where they are set to take on hosts Kenya Harlequin, Blak Blad and Daystar Falcons.

Pool D will see 2022 champions Menengai Oilers facing Mwamba RFC, Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology and University of Eldoret.

Christie 7s tournament director Nekesa Were assured fans that they have made adequate preparations to stage a memorable tournament.

The top three teams in the men’s Division 1 will receive Ksh. 100,000, Ksh. 50,000 and Ksh. 25,000 respectively while the Division 2 men’s winner will pocket Ksh. 50,000 from SportPesa.

This is part of the 16.5 million overall 2024 sponsorship package unveiled by the leading gaming firm on Monday 22 July.

The 2024 SportPesa 7s circuit will take place in five cities across the country over a span of two months.
