Kenya Commercial Bank FC shot to the top of the Kenya Premier League table on Tuesday after battling to a 1-0 victory over Mathare United at the Kasarani Annex.

In a matchday where only 8 goals were scored, four separate matches resulted in a 1-0 score line as Police FC were the only resounding winners on the day.

Derrick Otanga's 76th minute effort was enough for the bankers who now are in charge of the table with 25 points after 12 matches.

Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno's charges are level on points with second place Kakamega Homeboyz who suffered their first defeat of the season.

Homeboyz lost 1-0 to newcomers Talanta FC courtesy of a goal from their former employee Edwin Lavatsa.

This was Talanta's third straight game without defeat and their commendable efforts have seen them jump into sixth place on the standings with 20 points.

In yet another 1-0 encounter, Danson Chetambe's 85th minute goal was enough for Bandari in Wundanyi as they edged Sofapaka.

The dockers are now on a six-game unbeaten run and are in third place on the KPL table with 22 points.

The defeat was a first for Sofapaka in their last five matches and their fourth of the season, they remain in 8th place with 18 points.

Kariobangi Sharks also maintained pressure on the top three with a slim 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars courtesy of a 13th minute Patrick Otieno effort.

Sharks are fourth with 21 points after three consecutive games without defeat.

Other newbies Police FC were ruthless in their 4-0 win against Vihiga Bullets, who are also enjoying their debut season in the Kenyan top flight.
