SUMMARY
  • Kenya Police have not lost any of the 13 matches they have played in 2024 (W10 D3).
  • Ingwe head into the clash on the back of three straight wins in all competitions.
  • Elsewhere, the trio of Muhoroni Youth, Sofapaka and Shabana will be desperate to record positive results to aid their quest of avoiding relegation.

AFC Leopards will be hoping to achieve a feat that no other team has managed so far in 2024 when they come up against Kenya Police in a Round 30 match-up in the 23/24 Football Kenya Federation Premier League on Wednesday afternoon.

With only five matches before the season wraps up, the 12-time Kenyan champions will be trying their best to become the first side to inflict defeat on the in-form Salim Babu-coached side who have not lost in any of the thirteen league matches played so far (W10 D3).

The Thomas Trucha-led side will be seeking to stop the Police juggernaut that is also on a seven-match winning streak in all competitions and is still hanging onto very slim hopes of clinching the league title, should current leaders Gor Mahia who have a nine-point advantage capitulate terribly.

Ingwe head into the clash on the back of three straight wins in all competitions and will be in confident mood that they can get the job done against a Police side they will also be facing in the FKF Cup semifinals towards the end of the month.

Club captain Clifton Miheso, who will be facing his former employers, praised the law enforcer’s for their attractive playing style but backed his charges to put up a serious challenge.

“Police FC is a strong team with a solid track record. They have a very organized style of football, and we know they will pose a challenge. However, we are prepared and confident in our abilities to execute our plan effectively.

We approach every match with determination and a winning mindset. The match is crucial for us to continue our momentum in the league.

We are aiming for nothing less than a positive result. We have prepared well and will look to execute our game plan effectively on the field,” the experienced player told the club media.

Police on their part need to avoid defeat if they are to extend the title race for another matchweek as they currently trail Gor, who play on Thursday against KCB, by nine points.

Anything other than a win will ensure that Gor would need just four points to clinch a record-extending 21st league title.

Ingwe and Police have drawn in their last two matches in the league.

Elsewhere, the trio of Muhoroni Youth, Sofapaka and Shabana will be desperate to record positive results to aid their quest of avoiding relegation.

15th placed Shabana (28 points) have a good chance to leapfrog an equally struggling FC Talanta (30 points) when the two sides meet at the Raila Odinga Stadium.

Sofapaka (28 points) will be desperate to put an end to their six-match winless streak, including four straight losses, when they take on Posta Rangers.

Muhoroni Youth (27 points) on their part will be hoping to make their home advantage count when they host Bandari at the Muhoroni Stadium.

In another match, Murang'a Seal will be keen to put an end to their four-match winless run (D1 L3) when they take on free-scoring Kariobangi Sharks at the SportPesa Arena.

Seal are currently in 12th place on 35 points and need a couple of more points to guarantee their safety.
