NAIROBI, Kenya- Olympic champion Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon breezed to the tape in 4:03.22 to win women’s 1500m on the final day of Athletics Kenya’s national trial cum Doha World Championship Qualifier at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi on Friday.

She was among the 47 athletes selected by the federation to represent Kenya in Doha where she will be defending her title.

“I’m back in shape after the long maternity break. Winning today is a good sign that I’m ready to retain the world title in Qatar,” Chepngetich told SportPesa News.

“Winnie Chebet and I are going to work on a strategy to beat the resilient Ethiopians for Kenya to retain the medal,” she underlined.

“This is a very strong squad we have picked,the athletes will report to camp at MISC Kasarani on Monday for residential training,” undercsored Team Kenya head coach Julius Kirwa who will be assisted by other coaches including middle distance tacticians Bernard Ouma, David Kitur, Shame Kororia, Abraham Kiplimo, Shelly Kilunda, Joseph Cheromei and Richard Metto.

Joseph Kiget will be the Team Manager.
