Harambee Stars legend Dennis Oliech reveals plans to vie for FKF presidency

The FKF elections are anticipated to take place later this year.

- The 39-year-old stated that he has thought about vying for the FKF Presidency seat to enhance the football industry in the country.

Harambee Stars legend Dennis Oliech has disclosed that he might
be among the candidates vying for the top seat in the upcoming Football Kenya
Federation (FKF) elections slater for later this year.
Oliech made the announcement during an interview with
Citizen TV in Ivory Coast where the delayed 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON)
tournament is going on.
The 39-year-old stated that he has thought about vying for
the FKF Presidency seat to enhance the football industry in the country.

Speaking during the interview, Oliech further hinted that he
was working alongside former Harambee Stars midfielder McDonald Mariga and
Extreme Sports CEO Hussein Mohammed in a bid to bring the plans to fruition.
“In the next elections, we have decided that we will be on
the ballot. Right now, we are three horses - Mariga, Hussein and me. Either we
will support one of us or everyone will vie as individuals. That is what we do
not know yet. But we have to be there,” the player who netted 34 goals for
Kenya in his career said.
The FKF elections are expected to be held later this year
with several candidates already having declared their interests on various
positions.

The player who made his Harambee Stars debut in 2002 ended
by stating that he is privy to information regarding East Africa losing the
rights to host the 2027 AFCON tournament.
“A FIFA delegate has told me that we have to be ready in the
next two years. If we are not ready, we will not host it,” he explained.
Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda were granted the rights to host
the continental showpiece in September, 2023 by the Confederation of African
football.
The three neighbouring countries fended off competition from the likes of Algeria, Senegal and Egypt.
