The Kenya national football team are hoping to get a win in their second World Cup Qualifier when they take on Rwanda on Sunday in Kigali.

Harambee Stars arrived in Rwanda on Thursday and have been in preparations at the Mumena Stadium ahead of the crunch tie.

Both teams will be desperate for a win after failing to bag all three points in their opening matches against Uganda and Mali respectively.

Kenya were held to a frustrating barren draw by the Cranes of Uganda at the Nyayo National Stadium on Wednesday, while Rwanda lost 1-0 to Mali.

Captain Michael Olunga had a couple of glimpses of goal, but generally the away side’s defence kept the dangerous striker out of the game by cutting off his supply.

Ultimately the match ended 0-0, with the Cranes certainly the happier of the two sides after claiming a valuable away point.

The results leave Mali atop Group E with 3 points as the Kenyans come in second, tied with Uganda.

“A journey always starts with one step and for us, we have started with a point. Of course it is not the kind of start we wanted but we have to take the result and look to improve.

"We were not at our best because we didn’t have a friendly match to try and test ourselves and that’s why it was visible that we couldn’t do our normal passing,” head coach Jacob Mulee lamented.

Uganda will host Mali in Entebbe on Monday, meaning Kenya can go top of the Group if they manage a win away from home to keep their 2022 World Cup hopes alive.
