Harambee Starlets name provisional squad for U20 World Cup Qualifiers

Harambee Starlets tactician Beldine Odemba has announced the Under 20 squad for the upcoming 2024 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Kenyan youngsters are scheduled to start their campaign against West African nation Angola. 

The first leg will be played between Friday, October 6 and Sunday, October 8 in Nairobi while the return leg is expected to take place a week later.

Three teams will proceed to the next stage where they will square it out with other 29 nations that were exempted from the first round. 

Only two countries are expected to represent the continent at the global edition slated for Thursday, September 5 to Sunday, September 22 in Colombia.

The backline has the likes of Dorcas Glenda, Charity Luhavi, Elizabeth Ochaka, Velma Kaveza and Mollyne Akinyi. 

Odemba has called 10 midfielders including Jane Hato, Clotilda Auma, Jerrine Adhiambo, Rebecca Kwoba, Rachel Adhiambo, and Faith Atieno.

Nakuru City Queens FC star Elizabeth Muteshi, and Kayole Starlets’ Anno Halima Dima have also made it to the professional squad. 

Odemba, who guided the senior team to the next round of the 2024 African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) after edging favorites Cameroon in penalty shootout has gone with a strong forward line up.

Ulinzi Starlets attacker Fasila “Kamama” Adhiambo, Valerie Nekesa, Emily Okute, Faith Naliaka, Charity Midewa and Anne Nabwire have received calls up to the Rising Starlets camp. 

Lugari Progressive duo of Elizabeth Mideva and Marion Serenge, who helped their team bag the Kakamega County Safaricom Chapa Dimba title over the weekend are also expected to join the team.
