Gor Mahia are confident they will get all 3 points when they host eternal rivals AFC Leopards in the Mashemeji Derby on Sunday afternoon.

The game will be played at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday at 3pm.

The Jonathan McKinstry coached side are sitting pretty on top of the Kenya Premier League table with 63 points, two more than Tusker FC.

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards snapped a seven-game winless run to beat Nzoia United 1-0 last weekend but remain in 9th place with 42 points.

"We have been training well and we are prepared for the tough test that is awaiting us in the derby. Our main focus is to get all 3 points here.

"Wek know AFC, they are a good team but our recent record against them has been even better so we are confident we can get a win," seasoned midfielder Ernest Wendo stated.

Gor, the league leaders, have not lost to Leopards since 2016 and are keen to extend this record with maximum points on the day.

Gor Mahia are chasing a record-extending 20th Kenya Premier League title, while their rivals have not tasted glory since the 1998 season.

The hosts will also bank on the red-hot form that the KPL top scorer Benson Omala is in, as the striker boasts 25 goals in 29 appearances so far.

"I want to urge our fans to show up in large numbers to push and motivate us with their support and we promise them that we are going for all 3 points," Wendo continued.

There is a huge sense of belief in the Gor Mahia camp and with only 5 games left to play, they seem on course to add to their trophy cabinet.

This is the biggest match in the Kenyan football calendar and will mark the 93rd Mashemeji Derby as Gor seek to remain on course to win the title this season.
