Germany booked their ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with a convincing 4-0 victory away at North Macedonia on Monday evening.

The Germans became the first team to book their spot at the finals after a five-match winning streak sees them sit on top of Group J with 21 points.

North Macedonia beat Hansi Flick's side 2-1 back in March but they did not have a response to a scintillating performance from Germany on the night.

Timo Werner scored a brace after his Chelsea teammate had given them a 50th minute lead to inspire the victory.

Werner made way in the 74th minute and was replaced by 18-year old Bayern Munich forward Jamal Musiala, who became the country's second youngest goal scorer.

"From the result it was perfect. We got what we wanted, qualified as quickly as possible and we now have five wins in a row.

"Again the attitude was right. Compliments to the team. They did not ease off. The first half was a bit wild and we lacked a bit of precision. But we kept at it. We can be satisfied," Flick said after the match.

Germany are looking for a way back into the conversation of being a top team globally after not making it past the Group Stage at the 2018 World Cup and exiting the Euros in the last-16.

The four-time world champions will be making their 18th consecutive appearance and 20th overall appearance in the World Cup Finals.
