After match-day seven in the English Premier League, Chelsea are top of the table with 16 points, one more than Liverpool who are in second place.

Manchester City are third with 14 points after an enthralling 2-2 draw against Jurgen Klopp's side on Sunday.

Norwich remain rooted to the bottom of the table despite picking up their first point of the campaign in a barren draw against Burnley.

A total of 24 goals were scored over the weekend and Southampton's James Ward-Prowse was the only player sent off.

Here, SportPesa News has a look at the top five things we learned from the English Premier League weekend.

SPURS HALT DREADFUL RUN

Tottenham finally managed to rub off an unbelievably miserable run of form that saw them lose three games in a row.

They battled to a 2-1 win over Aston Villa, leaving them in eighth place with 12 points.

Harry Kane is still struggling to find form and he has failed to score in the opening six games of the season, a first since the 2015/16 season.

OLE OUT? UNITED STILL NOT CONVINCING

Yes, they avoided defeat over the weekend but Manchester United are still far from convincing, especially after the heap of talent they added to their squad.

The effects of the return of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane are yet to be seen and the 1-1 draw against Everton proved that.

The stalemate came after a shock 1-0 defeat to Villa in the league, before needing a 95th minute Ronaldo winner against Villarreal in the Champions League.

Ole's leadership ability remains under scrutiny and he will need a massive turnaround if he is to convince the fans otherwise.

SALAH IN A LEAGUE OF HIS OWN

Mohamed Salah is arguably the best player in the world right now judging by his form.

He is the joint-top scorer in the league with 6 goals in 7 games and his stunning effort against Man City was nearly his best.

The Egyptian winger assisted Sadio Mane for the opening goal before producing an individual moment of brilliance to score Liverpool's second in fine style.

The way he keeps showing up, it will be almost impossible to stop him on the way to another Golden Boot award.

CHELSEA MEAN BUSINESS

The Ward-Prowse penalty in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Southampton was only the third goal that they have conceded from the seven games they have played.

The most clean sheets in the English top flight, tied with Man City as they continue to show that they are serious title contenders for the title this season.

And all this is without top players such as Reece James, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and an off-form Romelu Lukaku.

VARDY BRINGING LEICESTER BACK TO LIFE

At 34, Jamie Vardy continues to show that he is pivotal to Leicester City's success.

He has scored three goals in his last two games to salvage important draws for the foxes, bringing them to 13th with 8 points.

It has been a rough start for Brendan Rodgers but with Vardy racking up the goals, they have time to turn their season around.

Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho have scored 33 goals in the 32 matches that they have started together, that could be key to a good season for them.
