The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier league had a lot
to offer on match week eight with several unexpected outcomes.
Defending champions Gor Mahia missed a chance to reduce the
gap between them and leaders Posta Rangers as they struggled against Bidco
United.
However, for their bitter rivals AFC Leopards, it was light
at the end of the tunnel as the club finally picked up maximum points for the
first time in a match this season following a run of seven winless results.
There were also huge wins for KCB FC and Ulinzi Stars while Kariobangi
Sharks left it late to punish Kakamega Homeboyz at Kasarani Annex.
Here is a wrap of how the action unfolded over the
weekend.

AFC Leopards clinch maiden win of the season
Ingwe fans breathed a huge sigh of relief after their
beloved club finally won a league match on Sunday.
The club which has struggled to score a goal this season,
finally managed to do so at the Western Kenya-based Sudi stadium where Brian
Yakhama’s 34th minute penalty secured them valuable 0-1 win over
Nzoia Sugar.
The result, a first win for newly-appointed head coach Tomas
Trucha, ensured Ingwe moved out of the relegation zone with their opponents
replacing them.
AFC Leopards currently occupy the 15th place in the league
standings with seven points, 12 less than leaders Posta Rangers.
Gor Mahia miss chance to put pressure on Posta Rangers
Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia missed an opportunity to
put pressure on Posta Rangers at the top of the FKFPL log thanks to a barren
draw against Bidco United at Kasarani Stadium.
Separated by only one point before that clash, the 20-time
Kenyan champions saw that gap opened to three points after the goalless stalemate.
Should K’Ogalo have won their match, they would have taken
their tally to 18 points, one less than fellow title contenders Rangers.
Gor Mahia’s attack led by the current top scorer Benson
Omalla did all they could to penetrate the rock solid Bidco United defense but
all their efforts failed to bear fruits.
Up next for the Jonathan McKinstry tutored side is a clash
against a wounded Shabana FC side.

Shabana’s Coach Resign After Humiliation in Nairobi
Sammy Okoth, the man who helped Shabana FC gain promotion to
the Premier League earlier this year after a 17-year absence, stepped down on
Sunday.
Okoth made the unexpected decision after his side’s 4-0
thrashing in the hands of Ulinzi Stars.
Speaking after the match, a disappointed Okoth stated that
he has never experienced something like that in his managerial career.
“I am not okay with whatever happened. I just feel I should
let it go, relax and maybe let someone else come and do the job because 4-0 is
a defeat that I have never gone through since I started my career as a coach,”
he commented.
