Manchester City went 11 points clear atop the English Premier League table on Saturday after battling to a 2-1 victory against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Pep Guardiola's side had to fight for the three points against a 10-man Arsenal to take their tally to 53 points, putting daylight between them and second place Chelsea.

Bukayo Saka put the Gunners ahead in the 31st minute before Riyad Mahrez restored parity from the penalty spot in the 57th minute.

Gabriel was sent off two minutes later after a second bookable offence and that proved to be the Gunners downfall as they could not hang on to the all important point.

A rare goal scorer in Rodri squeezed the ball past Aaron Ramsdale in stoppage time to seal all three points for the runaway league leaders.

Elsewhere, Tottenham had to wait for a 96th minute Davinson Sanchez goal to edge Watford 1-0 at Vicarage Road later in the day.

The win lifts Spurs to sixth place with 33 points as they made it five games unbeaten since head coach Antonio Conte took over the reins.

The London club have two games in hand and look on course to break into the top four of the EPL table.

In the last game of the day, West Ham made it two wins on the bounce with an enthralling 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The Hammers kicked off the game in fine style and had a commanding 3-0 lead by the half time whistle.

Patrick Vieira's side scored two late goals through Odsonne Edouard and Michael Olise but they were not enough as they could not add onto their previous win at Norwich.

David Moyes side are now in fifth place on the log with 34 points, 11 ahead of eleventh place Palace.
