The Football Kenya Federation on Wednesday announced that they have relieved Harambee Stars coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee of his duties, effective immediately.

FKF stated that Mulee, his assistant Twahir Muhidin and Goalkeeping Coach Haggai Azande have reached a decision to part ways by mutual consent.

Assistant coaches Ken Odhiambo and William Muluya will remain in the team as the federation works to reconstruct the Harambee Stars technical bench, ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers against Mali, scheduled for October 6 and 12.

“FKF is immensely grateful to Coach Mulee and his departing members of staff for their dedicated service and workmanship. The federation wishes them all the best in their future endeavors,” FKF CEO Barry Otieno said in a statement.

The Federation confirmed that the search for a new National Team Head Coach is already underway and an announcement will be made shortly in that regard.

Mulee, who was appointed back to the National Team in October 21, 2020, making a comeback to the team for the first time in over a decade failed to take the team to the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations set for Cameroon.

Up to the time he was fired, he picked three wins out of the six matches he has been in charge for the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier and the FIFA 2022 World Cup Qualifier.

The latest results were back-to-back draws in the Qatar World Cup Qualifiers, drawing 0-0 at home with neighbors Uganda before settling for a 1-1 draw with Rwanda away in Kigali.
