Kenya Premier League (KPL) winners Gor Mahia FC reclaimed top spot after edging
Sofapaka FC 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
The win saw Gor leapfrog Kakamega Homeboyz FC into first
place with 41 points from 17 matches, still with a game in hand.
Lawrence Juma opened the scoring for the hosts in the 12th
minute but Jedinak Nana leveled matters just before the half time break.

The defeat leaves John Baraza’s Sofapaka FC in ninth place
with 25 points after 18 games.
In the other midweek fixture, Zoo FC battled to a 2-2 draw
against Mathare United FC at the Kericho Green Stadium.
Dani Lual gave the slum boys an early lead but defender
Wilson Anekeya pulled one back for the hosts on the quarter hour mark.
James Kinyanjui then restored Mathare’s lead seven minutes
after the restart but Collins Neto once again brought the hosts level with a
well-taken effort in the 70th minute.
The stalemate leaves Mathare hanging on to 10th place on the
KPL table with 25 points, while Zoo remain in 12th, ten points behind their
opponents.
