NAIROBI, Kenya- Champions Gor Mahia FC bounced back in fine fashion as they hammered Chemelil Sugar FC 4-0 at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Wednesday afternoon.

The 18-time league winners were coming off a 2-1 shock defeat at the hands of Kakamega Homeboyz FC but restored faith in the K’Ogalo faithful with the resounding victory.

Sammy Onyango stole the show bagging a hat-trick to send Gor back into the top three with 35 points, two adrift of league leaders Tusker FC.

Onyango opened the scoring in the 20th minute, with the only goal of the half before netting his second three minutes after the restart.

Boniface Omondi then got Gor’s third in the 68th minute to put the game well past the basement club Chemelil Sugar FC, who are last with a meagre four points to show all season.

Onyango completed his first hat trick for the club in the 72nd minute of the game to complete the rout for the record Kenyan League winners.

Gor remain on course to win a third straight league crown with a third different coach and unprecedented 19th league title.

Steve Pollack’s charges will have a 10-day rest period before their next assignment on January 25, a home tie against struggling Bandari FC.

Chemelil on the other hand remain needing a miracle if they are to avoid the axe to the National Super League (NSL) next season and face a tough test against 2009 champions Sofapaka FC.
