NAIROBI, Kenya- A mighty performance from Ulinzi Stars FC saw them stretch their unbeaten streak to 16 games after playing out to a 1-1 draw with Tusker FC on Sunday afternoon.

The brewers failed to retain top spot in the 2019/20 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) table and will have to settle for third place with 38 points, level with second-place Gor Mahia FC.

Kakamega Homeboyz FC (39) will keep the coveted top position until Wednesday at least, when Champions Gor take on Sofapaka FC in one of two midweek fixtures.

In form striker Enosh Ochieng’ broke the deadlock with two minutes of the first half left to play, his eighth goal of the campaign giving the visitors the lead.

Another player in fine form, Timothy Otieno stepped up to convert calmly from the spot in the 68th minute to draw the hosts level.

Otieno, who was last week belatedly named November’s LG/Sports Journalists Association of Kenya player of the month, has now scored 11 goals for the brewers this season.

The result leaves Ulinzi in fifth place on the competitive log with 35 points after 18 games.

The soldiers next assignment is yet another tricky test against sixth-place AFC Leopards (28), while Tusker FC have a two-week break until a fixture against Leopards on Sunday, February 9.
