Murang'a Seals dreams of storming into the Kenya Premier League were shattered despite a 3-2 win against Wazito at their St. Sebastian Park Stadium in Murang'a on Sunday.

The victory on the day meant that the aggregate score was 4-4 after Wazito won the KPL promotion/relegation playoff first leg last Thursday in Thika.

The stadium was surrounded by Seals supporters who had made the trip to show their support for their team that was daring to dream of Kenyan top flight glory.

It was a dream start for the home team and especially for right back Dennis Wabwire who got the ball rolling with a well taken penalty in the 40th minute.

The goal was extra special for the National Super League's highest scoring defender after he missed a penalty in the last minute of the first leg tie.

Five minutes later, it was Wabwire again with a superbly taken right footed effort that gave the hosts a commanding 2-0 lead to take into the break.

Moments after the second half got underway, Curtis Wekesa drilled home a superb free-kick to pull one back for the visitors, visibly increasing the tension in and around the stadium.

On the hour mark, the crowd erupted once more after Erick Balecho whipped in the perfect cross from a corner and Fabien Bathez was on hand to head it past Adisa in the Wazito goal.

Michael Owino scored the most important goal with less than quarter of an hour left to assure the club of another season in the top tier.

"It's obviously very sad that the dream comes to such an end. I am very proud of my players and the efforts that they have put in to get this far, that is an achievement as well.

" Despite the result today, we keep fighting as Murang'a Seal and we will live to fight another day," Seal head coach Vincent Nyaberi told SportPesa News after the game.

A third-place finish after loads of drama and tug of war following controversial decisions throughout the NSL season was the best Seals have managed since their inception in 2016.

Judging from their steady rise up the ranks of Kenyan football, we are yet to see the best from them and we look forward to seeing them in the 2022/23 season.
