Unstoppable Arsenal extended their 100% record in the English Premier League with a 2-1 win against Aston Villa at the Emirates on Wednesday evening.

Gabriel Jesus gave the Gunners the lead on the half hour mark and they maintained it and kept piling the pressure until Douglas Luiz's 74th minute equalizer.

Mikel Arteta's side, who carried the greater threat throughout went straight back on the offensive and regained their lead with Gabriel Martinelli turning in Bukayo Saka's pinpoint cross.

The result is likely to heap more pressure on Villa boss Steven Gerrard who has seen his side lose four of their first five fixtures.

Arsenal remain at the top of the league standings with 15 points after 5 games, three more than second place champions Manchester City.

Erling Haaland continued to make a statement in his first season in the English top flight as he scored a first half hat-trick as Pep Guardiola's side demolished Nottingham Forest 6-0.

It was a second hat-trick in as many games after the Norwegian striker found the back of the net three times in City's 4-2 win against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Joao Cancelo and a Julian Alvarez brace completed the City rout as they extended their unbeaten start to the season.

Haaland’s tally of nine goals after his first five appearances is a new high in the Premier League era, beating the previous mark of eight set by City legend Sergio Aguero and Micky Quinn.

Haaland is only the seventh player to score a hat-trick in successive Premier League appearances.
