NAIROBI, Kenya- Harambee Stars maintained their unbeaten start to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as they played out to a 1-1 draw against Togo on Monday evening at the Kasarani Stadium.

The Kenyans failed to capitalise on Egypt's poor form to take charge of Group G, after the Pharaohs were held to a barren draw by minnows Comoros earlier in the day.

Stars came into the game on a high after a plucky 1-1 draw away to Egypt at the Borg El Arab Stadium last Thursday.

Cercle Brugge FC midfielder Johanna Omollo, who also scored against Tanzania at the finals in Egypt earlier this year, put Kenya ahead in the 35th minute with a sweetly struck left-footed strike.

The visitors found their groove in the second half and finally found an equaliser in the 64th minute through a Hakim Ouro-Sama header.

The result leaves Francis Kimanzi's side in second place with two points from as many games, level with Egypt but boast a better goal difference.

Comoros lead the standings with four points from two games whilst Togo are rooted to the bottom with the solitary point they picked on the day.

The next round of qualifiers will take place in August 2020 with Kenya hosting Comoros on the 31st as Egypt seek a first win at home to Togo.

Kenya made an appearance at the AFCON finals this year after a 15-year hiatus under Frenchman Sebastian Migne but did not make it past the group stages.
