AFC Leopards confirm the signing of promising Rwandese international

Gitego joins the club on a two-year deal.

announced the signing of Rwandese international Arthur Gitego.
Gitego joins the club which is currently being coached by Czech
Republic’s Tomas Trucha on a two-year deal.
“Rwandese international Arthur Gitego has joined AFC Leopards
from Rwandese side Marine FC on a contract running until January 2026, subject
to international clearance. He has also played for Rayon Sports and Kyovu
Sports,” a statement from Ingwe read in part.

On his part, a happy Gitego described the move as one of the
biggest in his promising football career.
“I am happy to have made this move. It is a big move in my
career. It is one of the biggest opportunities in my life to join a big club
like AFC Leopards with so many fans around the world,” he stated.
Gitego has an eye for the goal as shown by his statistics
with Marines FC where he managed to find the back of the net 16 times in the
last one and a half seasons.
The 22-year-old has also made four international
appearances so far for the Rwanda senior men’s team popularly known as Amavubi.

In addition, Gitego has played four matches for the national
under-23 side, with those games coming in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON)
qualifiers.
At AFC Leopards, Gitego will have the task of looking for
goals to help the club finish the season strongly.
He will fight for the starting position with the likes of
recent addition Christopher Koloti, and Brian Yakhama.
The player who was born in Gatenga-Kicukiro in Kigali
Province is expected to don the number 66 jersey.

AFC Leopards occupy the 10th position in the FKFPL log at
the moment with 24 points, 19 less than league leaders and defending champions
Gor Mahia.
Ingwe are expected to face Kariobangi Sharks in their next league fixture slated for Sunday, January 4 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
