Tokyo 2020 Olympics: Adam Stars As Starlets Edge Ethiopia In International Friendly

Kenya got a bye in the first round and will have either Gabon or Ghana in the third round if they crack Malawi in their forthcoming contest

MACHAKOS, Kenya- Harambee Starlets edged Ethiopia 3-2 in an international friendly match staged  at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Saturday.

Kenya was powered by Mwanahalima Adam who netted twice to realise the win.

The victory uplifted Starlets spirits ahead of their upcoming Olympics Qualifier against Malawi in Blantyre on August 28 before return leg on September 4 in Nairobi.

Adam was on target in the seventh minute, she outpaced the Ethiopian defense before slotting the ball in past Balcha Tarikua to give Starlets a 1-0 lead at half time.

Ware Birtukan then restored parity for the guests upon resumption, capitalizing on the free kick which was awarded by the center referee.

Adam made it 2-1 a few minutes later following a neat pass from Corazone Aquino, but the lead was leveled  2-2 by Serkadis Kidane who tapped in a lose ball from Kenya’s Annette Kundu a minute later.

Gentrix Shikangwa stepped up to slot in a resultant spot-kick that gave Starlets the deserved victory.
