NAIROBI, Kenya- Boniface Muendo and Bernard Ochieng’ did not imagine they would be sitting in the millionaires’ club the next time they watched their favourite teams play each other in the Manchester derby on April 24, 2019.

On Tuesday, thanks to their devotion to the technology and entertainment business SportPesa gaming platform, the rival Manchester City FC and Manchester United FC fans converged in Nairobi to receive their share of last week’s Midweek Jackpot.

Muendo, Ochieng’, Francis Mbui, Simon Kariuki and Richard Nyagechi were the five lucky winners who split KSh4,233,543 apiece for correctly predicting all the 13 games issued on the Midweek Jackpot that stood at KSh21,167,719.

Speaking after receiving his windfall, Ochieng’ a taxi operator and car salesperson based in Kericho noted his jackpot win had come at the right time for his budding business.

“When I saw the message at around 10pm, I could not believe it. We gathered as a family to pray and give thanks to God for this windfall,” he recounted.

The United supporter explained said his passion in the game has been reignited for getting the opportunity to put his knowledge to the test.

“One of my friends who used to play with SportPesa inspired me to join. Since then, we have been devoted players. Before the jackpot, I won in some Multi Bets and a jackpot bonus here and there,” the elated Ochieng’ underscored.

One of the newest millionaire in town and the second person hailing from Kericho County to scoop a SportPesa windfall after the last Mega Jackpot winner, Cosmas Korir, has set his sights on expanding his young enterprise.

“Seeing Zarika has inspired my girls a lot and all this could not have happened without the reason we are here today. SportPesa chances lives,” Muendo offered.

“We will be the ones to stop you during the derby,” Ochieng’ quipped, setting the stage for the banter as April 24 nears.
