Dockers consolidate second-place with polished 4-1 victory over the visitors to atone for heavy midweek defeat and first loss of the season

MOMBASA, Kenya- Bandari FC beat AFC Leopards SC 4-1 in a SportPesa Premier League (SPL) match staged at Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa on Sunday to reclaim second spot in the standings.

Wycliffe Ochomo was on target for the winners in the 22nd and 39th minutes as the visitors pulled a goal in the 30th to rest the scores 2-1 in favour of the hosts at half time.

Bandari added two goals in the 55th through Yemi Mwana and a 69th minute goal from William Wadri to stretch their tally to 4-1.

The victory was a great relief for the dockers who suffered a 0-4 humiliation in the hands of Kakamega Homeboyz FC in a midweek fixture played at a venue nicknamed Estadio de Bukhungu in Kakamega on Wednesday.

The winners are now second in the standings, three points adrift of league leaders Mathare United FC who were stunned 1-2 by Mt. Kenya United FC in Nakuru on Saturday.

The loss against Bandari dipped Leopards , who were edged 0-1 by Zoo Kericho FC on Wednesday, to 15th with 10.

Kariobangi Sharks FC unbeaten run came to a halt with a 0-2 loss to Sofapaka FC at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Cliff Kasuti and Umar Kasumba scored all the important goals in the 27th and 90th to give Batoto Ba Mungu the deserved victory.

Sofapaka (17 points) moved up to fourth  while Sharks (15),  who were crowned 2019 SportPesa Cup Kings last Sunday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania descended to eighth.

Homeboyz and Vihiga United FC  shared spoils after battling  to a 1-1 draw at Bukhungu.It was also the same case with Zoo who split points with Kenya Commercial Bank FC after a 2-2  stalemate at Green Stadium in Kericho.

At Sudi in Bungoma, Nzoia Sugar FC edged Sony Sugar FC 3-2 in a pulsating ‘Sugar Derby’ to move to fifth with 17.
