Ngige, Indiza Among 36 Pros For KCB Karen Masters Qualifiers In Thika

NAIROBI, Kenya- The KCB Karen Masters golf championships qualifiers slated for par 72 Thika Sports Club this weekend has attracted 36 professionals including homeboy Simon Ngige who was impressive at the 2019 Magical Kenya Open in Nairobi last month.

Ngige will be up against Mumias hard hitter Dismas Indiza and Muthaiga’s Nelson Mudanyi in a tough batch scheduled to tee off at 11.08 am (+3 GMT) on Saturday.

“I’m looking forward to start my Thika tour in an awesome fashion, I want to correct the mistakes that saw me failed to make the cut in this year’s Kenya Open,” underlined Indiza.

The two-day 36-hole contest will also feature Greg Snow, also of Muthaiga, who won the coveted inaugural Safari Tour Golf Series in the run up to the Kenya Open.

Snow’s group scheduled for tee-off at 11.32 am is composed of G. Giddie and home pro Sullivan Muthugia, formally of Nanyuki Sports Club.

The never-say-never-Olympian Elisha Kasuku, Ken Abuto of Royal Nairobi Golf Club and Jeff Kubwa are other notable names who will be out to clinch the ticket to Karen.

Amateurs are also looking forward to grab the six slots reserved for Karen in their category that will be an 18-hole contest.

The amateur overall winner will lead the six man brigade (including men's winner, lady winner, staff and guest winners and the wildcard winner) to the Karen competition in June. 

The wildcard slot continues to generate considerable interest with the winner in the last two events having been determined from a club lucky dip of scorecards at the "19th hole."

Staff winners from KCB Bank will also be fighting for one of the five slots available for them for Karen.

The KCB Karen Masters is a round of the prestigious Sunshine Tour which the biggest golf tour series in Africa.
