Ever reliable Ugandan forward Emmanuel Okwi had the first say in the evenly matched encounter as the Simba SC man scored in the 23rd minute to give the Cranes the lead.

Stars continued to try and penetrate the visitors defense throughout the first half but were unsuccessful as the referee blew for halftime with the home side down by a solitary goal.

New Gor captain Kenneth Muguna drew Kenya level with a lovely finish six minutes after the restart to restore hope to the fans in attendance.

The inclusion of Nicholas Kipkirui, Tusker FC’s Boniface Muchiri and Duke Abuya, who scored against Everton FC at the same venue in July, could not do much for Kimanzi’s charges as the game ended in a stalemate.
